Fire Season Has Begun
We had lovely flying at Truckee last weekend, but the thunderstorms have been starting lots of fires, and fire-related TFRs have started to appear near Truckee. There is currently one between Stead and Sierraville from surface to 10,000 MSL, and another just northeast of Carson City from surface to 9000 MSL which includes the Carson City airport. www.runwayfinder.com shows the locations.
There is also a “National Fire News” webpage that gives brief descriptions of all major wildfires listed by state: http://www.nifc.gov/fireinfo/nfn.html. This is listing several fires around Susanville as well.
