DG-1000 Grounded
From Jonathan Hughes:
The cover for the tail ballast weights was lost in flight today (Sunday) while Jeremy and Darryl were flying so the DG-1000 is grounded until a new one can be obtained. The bushing for the top bracket attached to the glider apparently fell out which caused the cover to fall off. We will need a new cover and a new bushing or a new top bracket with bushing if they don’t sell the bushing separately. The cover was taped on with a small piece of ratty tape but obviously, this was not sufficient to keep the cover on once the bushing failed.
Amazingly, although all of the weights were in the tail at the time, none of the weights fell out.
From Harry Fox:
Darryl has volunteered to track down the replacement parts, DG tends to be responsive about parts orders, so there is a small chance we could have this fixed by next weekend. We’ll send out an update e-mail once we know more.
